riki2.jpg Richard Gonski was born in South Aftrica and educated in Israel where he studied music at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem, graduating in 1982 with a degree in conducting and flute.

Following completion of his degree, he moved to London where he was Music Director of a number of orchestras including the Electric Symphony Orchestra, taught electroacoustic at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and acquired a passion for the emerging field of music technology.

In 1996 he moved to Devon and is currently Music Director of the Torbay Symphony Orchestra and the Exeter University Symphony Orchestra

Contemporary music is a very important part of Richard's musical life, so both orchestras perform modern works regularly.

Richard is also a director of Digital Music Archives and Thinking Arts and is a founding member of Totnes Music Now!
